Configure a Basic mailbox in Apple Mail
Automatic configuration
Follow these steps:
- Open Safari and enter the following line as url where you replace the last part with the e-mail address you created earlier.
https://autodiscover-s.mailprotect.be/apple/ user@mail.address
- A file is generated. Open that file to download the profile.
- Follow System Preferences – Profiles – Install
- In the pop-up window, click on Continue.
- Enter your e-mail password and click on Continue.
- The mailbox is checked and installed on your computer
Manual configuration in Apple Mail
Follow these steps in Apple Mail:
- Via the navigation bar at the top you go to “Mail”> “Add Account”
- Choose “Other Mail account” and continue
- Enter your name, e-mail address and password and continue
- Apple’s automatic check will fail, but that’s no problem
Enter the missing information.- Incoming mail server: imap.mailprotect.be
- Outgoing mail server: smtp-auth.mailprotect.be
- Select the apps that you want to use with this e-mail account and complete the configuration
Check if your mailbox is set up correctly in Apple Mail
Is your mailbox in Apple Mail strange? Does he still receive messages but can he no longer send them or vice versa? Then there is probably something wrong with the settings.
Follow these steps in Apple Mail to see if your mailbox is set up correctly:
- Via the navigation bar at the top you go to “Mail”> “Preferences”.
- Go to the “Account” tab and select the mailbox that you want to check.
- Go to the “Server Settings” tab.
- Check if the settings match the following:
Username: Exactly the same as your e-mail address
Server incoming e-mail:
imap.mailprotect.be - Port 993 - for IMAP
pop3.mailprotect.be - Port 995 - for POP3
Outgoing e-mail server:
smtp-auth.mailprotect.be - Port 587 - Make sure the “Manage connection settings automatically” option is unchecked.
