If a folder is secured, the websites hosted in those folders will ask for password before they open.
Hint: Please note this option is not available in Windows.
- Log in your control panel.
- At the top follow ‘My Products’ > ‘Web hosting’.
- In the table you will see your hosts. Click on ‘Hosting Details’ for the host you need to secure a folder in.
- From the vertical menu to your left choose “Security” and then the tab ‘Secured folders’.
- Give a custom name to this protection that speaks to you.
- Type in the path you would like to protect. Here is a hint: Use FTP to make sure the directory is correct.
- Click on ‘+ Add Folder’.
- Switch to the ‘Users Overview’ tab.
- Type the Username and click on ‘+ Add User’.
- Name the user, choose the password, select the access level. Click on ‘Add User’.
- Switch back to the Folders Overview.
- Click on ‘Permissions’.
- Make sure the list of users having access to the Secured Folder is fine with you.
